I got my modem/router/wireless through Verizon. On their site it says that I should have a westell wireless usb adapter for my desktop in order to go wireless. Why can't I use a wireless network card instead? They are alot cheaper than what they want me to buy. I need help!!

I'm at a college and here if I plug my laptop directly into the wall I can see everyone shared itunes folder over the LAN. However, I recently had to change that set up to allow my wireless router to be plugged into the wall for my Wii (yea for Wii), so now both my laptop and my Wii get internet access but because my router assigns me a 192.0.0.0 base address and the schools network is a 10.0.0.0 base address my itunes only looks for other shared folders with 192 addresses and no one else is on my router. I need to know if there is a way to make it so that I tunes will look at my external 10 base ip address so that I can view everyone else's shared folder, and no I don't want to just plug my laptop back into the wall again. Thanks.

Actually, I have two questions. First....IP address I.E. 192.168.0.9, What do these numbers mean? Can someone break it down for me to understand? Secondly, Binary...how can you write in binary? I know 1100000 is 192, or something like that, but what is the mathematical basis for this? How can it be translated into actual letters? Thank you for yout time.

I am told that I'll need a wireless router if I want to be able to access the Internet through a laptop. OK, I can grasp that. Since I allow my sister to use this desktop and we both use the Internet, I need to know if we can be online simultaneously before I take the plunge and invest in a laptop for those times when we both want to go online.

Using Windows XP, Qwest 2-wire wirelss modem. Got modem recently, set up wireless on laptop using Qwest config settings. Now both desktop and laptop get internet access, but for some reason the laptop can only get internet when the desktop is on. What's up with that. Did the setup create some kind of internet sharing or something. Have set up plenty of wireless connections, but never had that happen before. Any good suggestions out there?

Hi guys

In my previous message i wrote about a recent problem i am having with my pc. In reply someone told me to go into safe mode and uninstall the items under the network adapter (WAN etc). This is in Device Manager. I was just wandering though, if i uninstalled and then restarted in normal windows mode, how would i reinstall these items that i just uninstalled? Where would i have to fo to get these items back?

Thanks
