Your cable line plugs into your Modem, then you use an Ethernet (cat 5 cable) to go from the "Ethernet" jack on your modem to the Internet jack on the router. If the jack on your router isn't marked on the back of the router are five ports. Four in a group & a space then the fifth. Plug into the fifth.

If you have trouble shut down your computer, your modem and your router. Even though it's off unplug the power to the modem for five seconds.

Now power up your modem, now your router and finally your computer. Everything should work now.

The modem will plug into the router using the WAN Port (Wide Area Netwrok). It will be marked. The other 4 ports are for ethernet cables that can be plugged into computers with ethernet cards installed in them.
