Alright I have cable with a modem upstairs connected to a router. One cord is going to the downstairs. I have a second router in my room which I want to go to two computer.

I have all cords needed to split (No need for wireless) When I try it doesn't work , i think it has to do with the ip address and splitting the connection ( I have access to the router config) and I know your asking why not have everything hooked up in one room? well i need access to a router since i need several computer hooked up in my room to get internet. And the modem/first router need to stay upstairs..

So basicly I need it to work like Modem -> First Router -> Second Router

First Router has 3 computers hooked up to it ( 2 + my cord ) and in my room I have a router which I need to have hooked up to two computers..

First Router is: DX-E401 (Dynex)
Second Router Mine: is a D-Link WBR-2310

Internet = Cable

Total Computers: 4 ( 2 are mine)

I often take my laptop with me, but there's not always an access point nearby. Are there any ISPs that can be accessed wirelessly? Are they expensive?

So, does anyone have an idea of how this would be possible, like to setup a big network or anything so I may have broadband access at my home? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have set up a home network in my home, but all the computers must be on the same router to work on it. I was wondering how to set up a network that can work with computers on different networks (routers), with computers that are miles away?

I presently stay in Hyderabad and use BSNL Broadband Home 500 with 256 Kbps, but i find many times it is very slow and tiring. Hathway on the otherhand promises in the Day-Night plan 512 Kbps. Is it good to shift from BSNL now. Is Hathway uniform and reliable in their service.

I have an old Dell C640, and just recently, I've tried to add a new Wireless Connection because it calls for encryption. I seemed to have missed a step in the process, but tried to attempt to press "okay" and see what happens.

Now, not only will it not connect to the new wireless network I was trying to add, it won't connect to wireless anywhere (when it could prior to the changes). I've tried going back and deleting what I did, but on my list of "Wireless Networks," absolutely nothing shows up, so I have nothing to delete. However, I am able to connect if I add the wireless network, say, at my friend's house to my computer. But I want it to automatically connect like it did before so I don't have to manually do it again? It's weird.

I have seriously tried from restarting to System Restore. Are there any computer experts out there that could possibly find some solutions to this problem? Thanks so much.

I have a Speedtouch 510 modem/router and it is set up with fixed IP's for a Mac and another PC and some NAT settings for iChat etc.

Now I want to add a Draytek Vigor 2200 WE wireless router, so I can use my laptop with it.

The laptop 'sees' the wireless Draytek network, but how do I configure (and cable) the Draytec and the Speedtouch so that I can use the internet connection via my laptop?

modem/router > vigor 2200WE > powerbook

If you know a good webpage about this that would be OK too! Thanks.

I live on long island. I have optimum online cable internet service. The service is supposed to provide 15mb (peek) download and up to 8mb upload. I have NEVER seen these results! when i plug my computer into my cable modem i may get up to about 8mbs download and 4 up.. fine.. but when i plug my pc into my router (a new netgear rangemax 802.11g router with 4 port switch) i am lucky if i get 2.5mb download speeds and maybe 1-1.5mb upload.
WHY!?!?! also, i have my wireless network secured with wep-psk2 using TKIP passkeys and its even on a dif channel then some of my neighbors but my laptop constantly looses connection and the ONLY solution people have for me is REBOOT your router!!! whoop dee doo!!! how come a cisco router for my office NEVER needs a reboot!?!?!?!!?

I have an old Hewett Packar x86 Family 6 model 8 stepping 1 63.0MR Ram desk top since 1999. The hardrive has a UBS installed in it, but I am using DSL now since cable cannot set up in my area right now. So I have a router that only uses Ethernet. Is it possible for me to get an ethernet installed in my harddrive? And what would be the price range if I had it installed on haddrive?

I need to open a port on my network, but haven't needed to do it before. Any idea on where to start looking? Or should I go straight to my firewall and look there instead of in Server 2003 (Standard)? Thanks!

I've have a Linksys wireless router with road runner. Pretty much every day I can't get on the internet. So I unplug the cable "modem" and the linksys for a few minutes. Plug in the cable modem then the linksys and it works. I've heard most people have this problem but only have to do this every month or so. For me it's everyday, now the last two days I have to do it like every half hour. What gives? Anyone else have this? What's the problem the cable modem or the wireless router?
