I've have a Linksys wireless router with road runner. Pretty much every day I can't get on the internet. So I unplug the cable "modem" and the linksys for a few minutes. Plug in the cable modem then the linksys and it works. I've heard most people have this problem but only have to do this every month or so. For me it's everyday, now the last two days I have to do it like every half hour. What gives? Anyone else have this? What's the problem the cable modem or the wireless router?

it's your router. i had the same problem awhile back with my vonage phone router, same brand as you. the problem is the router capacitors are getting hot and shutting down. why they don't put cooling fans in them is confusing. something that is on 24/7 gets hot. all my modems and routers have fans blowing on them because of the heat
when this starts to happen to you feel the router and modem for how hot it is and try putting a fan on them in the open. make sure there is plenty of room around for the heat to escape. heat is any computers worse enemy. try this and if it doesn't work then it's too late for the router.

What you describe is a typical symptom of a router going bad. The problem will get more and more frequent until the router simply fries out.

You may be able to get a replacement if your ISP company has a replacement policy or warranty; do it soon.

Try this -- plug the modem right into your computer with an ethernet cable, and see if it gives uninterrupted service. If it does, then your router is definitely the problem.

if you have an older cable modem that could cause problems. also of there is interference on teh cable line, that could cause problems. you could try getting a new cable modem. And updating the firmware on your router.
