I have a D Link DIR 625 Wireless n router with a DLink WUA 2340 Wireless adapter on my Desktop. Both are capable of delivering 108 Mbps but I'm only getting 54.0 Mbps max. Router and computer are 5 feet away. anyone know how to get up to 108 Mbps? I'm on a DSL line connected to modem as well.

Even if you are ONLY getting 2Mbps, you are STILL faster than your DSL.

EDIT: I just checked the dlink website. Your adapter is NOT draft-n compatible like your router is. Sorry...

The 802.11n wireless networking technology is still in the draft stage and will not guarantee interconnectivity. Also the 2340 is g technology so it's max speed it only 54Mbps, there's your limiting factor.

And why do you need more than 54Mbps? DSL is at most 6 Mbps, and that's only if you're right next to the phone company. You only need more than 54Mbps if you're frequently transferring large files intra network (between computer in your house)

If your computer is only 5 feet from your router, why not use ethernet?

Look in the User Guide, there is normally a troubleshooting section. Your equipment typically supports 802.11g, some vendors such as NetGear and DLINK advertise 108MBps between the equipment. So they are going outside of the IEEE standard. Since they must be compatible with 802.11g they normally provide a setting which is configured on the Router and on the Wireless Adapter. Use Device Manager to look at the Wireless Ethernet card properties, specifically the Link Speed

Regulations limit the speed of wireless routers to 54.0 Mb/sec. I doubt your DSL is even close to that fast, so I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're using it for a LAN, and you're swapping very large files frequently.

The 54mbps is lightning fast, your ISP will never keep up with it.
