Sounds like the router that you are using is not enabled to use DHCP. That could be the reason why they are not obtaining a valid IP Address, the one that says limited is probably 169.125.blah blah. Check the router.

That doesn't make sense. If the computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically, then the subnet mask should be greyed out and you shouldn't be able to do ANYTHING with it manually.

You are on the right track with changing the settings on the non-connecting computer to match the ones that can get on.

One thing you haven't mentioned -- and it could be important -- is whether the computer that won't connect has a network cable or a wireless network card. For example, if the two computers that connect fine are cabled, and the machine having problems has a wireless card, the problem could be with your wireless access point, not on the computer itself.

EDIT in response to your additional details: OK, never mind wireless. The third computer could have a bad network card or a bad network cable. The cable will be easier to test. Take a known-good cable (one from one of your working machines is fine) and use it to hook up the machine with the problems. If the problem machine then gets online, you have a bad cable. If the problem machine still doesn't connect, then the issue is with the network card.

The problem is most likely in your router. You can access the routers firewall by looking for the appropriate web address for your router and clicking support.

You can change the subnet mask to match the other pcs but im not sure if it will help or not. To do this go to my netowork places in the control panel..

Click view network connection

On your connection RIGHT click and select properties.

In the box select Internet protocol.

Properties.

IT is in the box that will pop up.

You can also contact yahoo about this matter and they should be able to assist you.

Bad CAT-5 cable?
Bad network card/connector?

Are you using wireless? This sounds like a problem with your WEP (encryption key).

If you are using wireless, you need to know your WEP. If you do not, you can call your DSL provider and they will talk you through setting it up.

Best of luck!
