I could get from ebay but i wanted to know if its possible to sonnect it through my laptop wich has a wi fi connection for the internet and bluetooth for devices. The operating system constantly crashes but only when i am connected to my modem with the power on, surfing the net. The PC will shut down and upon restart will state problems like TCP/IP error (with a yellow warning symbol next to it), DHCP error or System Error (with a red cross beside it) in the event viewer (found by right clicking my computer, going to manage and then clicking twice on event viewer). All the aforementioned issues are under the system folder of the Event Viewer. I also get error message sometimes saying server (with a yellow exclamation point symbol next to it) and cdrom (red 'x' next to it) saying that it failed to load. I contacted my pc manufacturer today and he said that the problem was more than likely caused by a network adapter/card and advised me to purchase a new one. From what i have described here, would you technical pc guys agree with this as the cause of the problem? I say again that it only ever crashes when my modem is connected (via ethernet).

How come when I click a shared folder, go to properties, un-check the read only box and click apply and hit ok it won't save the change? I go back to properties and the stupid box is checked again! We're using Windows XP Pro, and networked peer to peer. We have one computer as the "server" at our processor's work station. The problem we're having is that no one else on any computer but the "server" can make changes to the documents in the shared folder. Please help!!! Thanks!

The tech came out and got the computer up but the phone is still out. Everything (2 computers,Mac&Pc and the phone) is properly run through the router.
What could be the problem?
I also would like to add an Air port to the mix.

I am currently with Tiscali Broadband, and when I first signed up with them, I thought Mmm.....cheaper then what Wanadoo is so I switched over to them, but now I keep ongetting disconnected, there failure to deliver the 8mb, so I fancy going to Sky as they can deliver up to 16mb, plus they are £7.99 cheaper to what I am currently paying for Tiscali Broadband.
Please can someone help me out on this matter? Many thanks to anyone who gives me useful info!

I bought a 3com office wireless router but have given up on trying to set it up. It asks for loads of weird settings that i havn't got a clue what they are!! And i'm not bad with computers!

So i want a new wireless router that is REALLY VERY EASY to set up, basically, it auto installs or asks only simple setup questions. Please, does anyone know of one?

their DS3 links fluctuate continuously whenever there is a switching on my SDH backbone. Ideally the router should never see the SDH switching because the switching time would be very small, less than 50ms. And this does not happen on their direct connectivity with us, but some other part of my backbone network which is on the path to their destination. But the router DS3 interface goes down for every switching on the backbone, and takes a few seconds to come up again. This is affecting them because they run voice on these DS3 links. This is 7200 router. Any idea why this might be happening, and how it can be resolved? Any command that can be configured to work around this problem?

I'm having a strange problem and I'm not sure why or how to fix it, and being a PC tech by trade I'm a little embarrassed.

I am unable to browse to google.com, I can if I use one of Google's IP's (e.g. 64.233.167.99) but when I attempt to browse by DNS I get no where. So I tried to ping google.com and instead of getting replies from one of googles many IP's, I get replies from my local host (127.0.0.1)

Now I have no persistent routes set up for google traffic, and it's not an issue in my hosts file, so I tried to repair the network connection (ipconfig/release, renew, flushdns, registerdns, arp -d *, nbtstat -R and -RR) still nothing. So I reset my winsocks ("netsh winsock reset" and "netsh int ip reset") and still no go, so I restore the PC to a couple days ago, but alas, ping google.com still goes to 127.0.0.1

Odd thing is I was browsing around on google all day today.

As far as I can tell, google is the only affected site.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have one computer, a Dell laptop running Windows XP. I am wanting to setup where the laptop connects to the Internet through wireless and I also want my Playstation 2 connected as well. I am going to buy a wireless router and card for the laptop. Is it possible to run wireless this way some how or do I need at least one other computer like I have seen every other wireless network setup, I think it is possible just not sure and I don't want to waste money if it is not possible.

I use to turn off my DSL modem each time I turned off my computer but then one day, for no reason, my DSL modem wouldn't turn on. It would only stay on if I manually kept the power button pushed in. Eventually I got it to stay on, but from that point on if I turned it off, I would have trouble getting it on again. I tried unplugging and then replugging in all the wires. Nothing helps. It takes FOREVER for me to get it to stay on again. So I now just keep it on all the time. I haven't had any problems so far. Should I call SBC to get a new DSL modem??? There is obviously *something* wrong with mine. If not - how often, if ever, should I turn off my DSL modem to give it a break?
