Is the router itself disconnected (i.e. the DSL indicator light showing if its connected or not)? Or is your PC and Laptop wirelessly connected and loses connection to the Router when your wireless phone rings?

If your router loses DSL connection, call your service provider to check your telephone line.

If the computers disconnect from the router, try to change the WLAN channel in the routers setup. Maybe your wireless phone happens to have a similar broadcast frequency as the router. This can lead to interference and your connection will be disturbed.

As for sharing files:
Are both computers in the same Workgroup? (Rightklick on "My Computer", choose "Settings", then the tab "Computer Name".
Check there if both PC and laptop are in the same workgroup.
Use the XP Network connection Wizard on the XP CD if you still can't share files and Printers.

Your router and your telephone are on the same wireless frequency: 2.4 GHz. You need to move the cordless telephone away from the router so that they don't interrupt each other. Or if you go to a 5.8 GHz phone those don't have the same frequency.

You have to make sure your file sharing properties are set right-network places, check there under my computer. As far as getting booted- if you have a cordless phone it might be the frequency of your phone interuppting the signal. Try getting a phone with a different frequency.

Do you presently have a DSL modem? in case you do then you definately might want to easily opt to plug the modem into the wan port on the router. If no longer you'll likely opt to pass out and purchase a DSL modem.

Also make sure all your computers on the network have the same Workgroup name.

Right click 'My Computer' > click 'Properties' > click the 'Computer Name' tab > to change the Workgroup name click 'Change...' under the 'Member of' section make sure Workgroup is selected and make sure all the computer have that name.
