So, does anyone have an idea of how this would be possible, like to setup a big network or anything so I may have broadband access at my home? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok,I obviously didn't give enough details. I cannot get DSL or Cable, the only thing available is satellite (which sucks). I live in southern WV (and no I'm not a "hick" or "redneck"). And my whole community has been asking for DSL for a very long time, and now it seems were getting overlooked again by Verizon.

Settin up a network aint gonna get you DSL! If your neighbor has it 2 miles away, you should be able to get it to!

The limits on distance are not from you to you neighbor with DSL, but from your house to the phone company's central office, or remote switching equipment. The distance limit is about 3.5 miles. Contact your phone company or other DSL provider to see if you can get it.

Is cable modem a possiblity. If you can get cable tv, you should be able to get cable internet.

Tell us where you are, in general terms.

If you said "we can't get DSL or Cable" then no you can't get DSL.

Apparently, you just want a high speed connection to the Internet. Do you have cell phone service out in sticks? Look into getting a new cell phone and data package ($$$) and you can hookup computer through you cell phone1

.
The ONLY person that can answer that question, as to if you are within range to get DSL from the local ISP
is that provider.
Only they can tell you if their hardware can reach you with a strong enough signal to
work properly.

Pick up the phone and give them a call.
They are listed in the Yellow pages of your town or neighboring town.

Uh, DSL is done on the phone line, serious broadband is done on the coax or fiber used for TV cable.
If you just want DSL, you ask your phone company, or do you not have phone lines to your property ?

sounds like to me you want to tap into someone wireless router.they could be right next door from you ,but if the router is password protected,or has other means of protection you wont be able to share their resources...now,do you still want to buy that $79.00 wireless card?
