I have an old Hewett Packar x86 Family 6 model 8 stepping 1 63.0MR Ram desk top since 1999. The hardrive has a UBS installed in it, but I am using DSL now since cable cannot set up in my area right now. So I have a router that only uses Ethernet. Is it possible for me to get an ethernet installed in my harddrive? And what would be the price range if I had it installed on haddrive?

dont get the tower mixed up with the hard drive. For a minute i didnt know what you meant...go to radio shack, staples, circuit city, ect. ask for a PCI ETHERNET CARD For you desktop.Dont let them confuse you, because they will, and you will end up leaving with nothing. dont use the word "Hard Drive".say its for your desktop,or your computer TOWER.(PCI ETHERNET CARD)

i bet you have an Ethernet card already installed on the thing. look at the back of your computer and see if one of the outlets looks like a modem only bigger. if you have that then that's an Ethernet card. just plug the router into that and see what happens. if you don't have one then go out and buy one. you can get one for under 20 bucks. install it, load up the driver and your on your way.

What you refer to as the harddrive is actually the computer itself. The hard drive is an internal component of the computer. I'mm assuming you have Windows 98 installed on your computer as well.

You can try a USB Ethernet adapter that works with USB 1.1.

You should install an Ethernet adapter though.

But in my opinion you would spend you money better at least on a $200 refurished computer that has built-in Ethernet.

You can't install ethernet onto your hard drive. You can only install it to your computer, but the hard drive should be able to send files on the ethernet.
