Personally, I suggest not trying and internet optimizer. there are a log of useless programs that claim they help you internet speed. They do just the opposite, they allow your comptuer to be blasted with advertisements. When you are connected to your ISP, you are usually getting the fastest speed your ISP can provide. Dialup will be about 3KBps or 24000 kbps, DSL will be somewhere around 128KBps or 102400kbps, while cable can be up to 1.4MBps or 112000000kbps or more....

Try something like http://www.speakeasy.net and try a speed test.

What you really need to know is if you have Dial-Up, ISDN, DSL (there are many types of DSLs), Cable or T-lines, (If you have OC-3 then select the highest connection). LAN is a Local Area Network, its the network all your computer uses in your house to communicate, TCP is a Internet Protocol Port it allows you to connect to others and others to connect to you. So LAN and TCP are NOT internet connection types. If your modem has a phone wire at the back just select DSL or ADSL since thats the most common DSL type used, if its a TV Coaxial cable then you have a Cable Connection. So find out what you have, for sure its not LAN or TCP.

First of all, if you're using a network hub, I'd recommend buying a switch.

You question is asking if you're using ADSL, TCP, or LAN....well, it could be all three.

ADSL is the connection you get from your ISP. For broadband, you'll most likely be using DSL, or Cable broadband.

TCP is the protocol you use...mostly all Internet traffic uses TCP/IP. And you are using this protocol now.

LAN means: Local Area Network. And you are ON a local area network as we speak.

So I guess the question is...who are you getting your internet connection from? This will tell you if you're using DSL, Cable, Satellite, or Dial-Up.

A Hub is just a device where everything connects.
aDSL is an internet service data line, like cable.
TCP/IP is a protocol....a language
And a LAN is Local Area Network, meaning your small home network.

If you subscribe to DSL, then that is probably the option you want.
