Hi, I have a 1998 rover 111, that's in PERFECT condition, only done 19000 miles. Recently had an MOT and service where I mentioned the fact that it drops a bit of oil. They cleaned the sump completely but it's still dropping a bit of oil. The oil itself is fine, the pressure and temp is fine, and it's only leaking about a drop or two a night, but still, we have a new drive and my mom isn't keen on it! And I'm worried about my little tiddler :)! Anyone got any suggestions?

My car has plastic headlight lenses. They are older and "foggy". I have heard that rather than replacing them (they are expensive), I can take them apart and polish them clear again, resulting in better lighting at night. What should I use to do this? Would a standard car polishing compund be best?

Its an Eldorado. It has the 500 cubic inch engine with front wheel drive.. its has an antique plate so it doesnt need to get inspected. I already have straight duel exhaust with just flowmaster mufflers. I dont want to have to rip apart the engine to put a CAM in or anything like that. Is there smog stuff to take off or a new carburator or some things i can take off? It does have A/C. It works so i dont want to take anything out with that. I do unplug that when its not roasting out so it doesnt have to work as hard. Also it seems to ping really bad lately when it warms up. The timing is ok and im using premium fuel.

I accidently backed into my friends car when it was parked in my drive way. I hit the back corner bumper and misplaced the bumper and left a dint in it. Now the problem is that I originally sold the car (that I hit) to my friend for $150.It is an old Datsun Stanza and in poor condition. He didnt spend too much getting it ready for rego. The quote for repairs is over $1000 because there is a huge amount of rust in the boot. If they try and bang out the dint the whole boot is likely to collapse. The car is so rusty I doubt it will pass rego this year. If it wasnt for the rust the quote would be much less. If I go to my third party insurer Im concerned they will consider the car a write-off as the damage far exceeds the value of the car. Any advice? Anyone been in a similar position? I want to do what is right by my friend but I cannot afford to fix the dent and the rust (they have to replace and reinforce parts of the boot) out of my own pocket. That is what I have insurance for.

My saturn SL1 is due for an oil change but it has a broken plug (it's stripped I think). There was this one mechanic that always changed it's oil but I can't seem to get a hold of him. My boyfriend tried changing the oil by siphoning the oil out with a tube but he said that the tube needed was too thin and it wouldn't suck out. He doesn't really know how else to change it. Is there any way my boyfriend can change the oil or fix the plug?

My motorbike passed an MOT last year, and then has sat in the garage all year having done only 10 miles. When I went to take it out for a new MOT, I found the front fork seals are badly leaking, which obviously weren't last year or they wouldn't have passed the test. My question: is it normal for oil seals to deteriorate without any use? Both seals are leaking just as badly. I had assumed the oil had just crept out slowly over the year (they are upside-down forks on a sports bike) but when I actually rode it, after a few miles I could see the amount of oil was quite great. Is this normal deterioration?

i have always heard that toyota oil filters have a (check valve) so oil will get inside your engine quickly when you start your engine, thus preventing unnessary wear and tear on your engine. if this is true, then why aren't all oil filters made this way?

I have spent lots of money trying to get it to stop. Wheel balancing, ball joints, alignment; U joints checked. I was told could be drive train(to check, put in neutral on road and see if still vibrates and it does, which means not drive train??). I was told the wheel balancing would show if tire out of round????. Could it possibly be motor mounts or maybe still the tires (wheels), even though I was told no? How do you check the motor mounts if they could be the cause. thanks for any help. I'm totally confused.
