combonation of drilled and slotted rotors are much better than the others . engineers from Farrari,Lamborghini,Porsche,BMW,MERCEDES,and CORVETTE used this method. if i were you, i do what these engineers recommend.

Scott, If the rotors are going to be used on the street the slotted rotors are the way to go. If you can fined slotted and dimpled rotors such as the ones EBC sells I honestly think this type is the best for street use. I've seen a lot of through drilled rotors with cracks running from the holes. Uneven heating and cooling causes cracks and the drilled holes may have stress risers from drilling. Who knows what the metallurgy is in any rotors that you choose. I'm very curious about this very topic.
The through drilled rotors are a good idea for all out racing but remember in most cases they are steel not cast iron. They crack also and when they do the racers toss them and bolt new ones on the brake hub hats.

Better for what? Drilled brakes are drilled to help cool them and to keep weight down. Slotted brakes are slotted to cool them down.

Slotted are better than drilled--better chance of not cracking

yes, they dissapate heat and do not allow the build up of gasses which will make your brake pads hover instead of make contact with the disc.
