Its an Eldorado. It has the 500 cubic inch engine with front wheel drive.. its has an antique plate so it doesnt need to get inspected. I already have straight duel exhaust with just flowmaster mufflers. I dont want to have to rip apart the engine to put a CAM in or anything like that. Is there smog stuff to take off or a new carburator or some things i can take off? It does have A/C. It works so i dont want to take anything out with that. I do unplug that when its not roasting out so it doesnt have to work as hard. Also it seems to ping really bad lately when it warms up. The timing is ok and im using premium fuel.

I assume you already have a 4 barrel carburetor. When you stomp on the accelerator, you should hear the two secondary barrels come in and the power increase dramatically. I recommend a K&N lifetime (cleanable) air filter which has more air flow to increase horsepower. You might be able to switch over to an electric cooling fan and get more horsepower by removing the old pulley driven engine cooling fan. You might change the rear end ratio in your rear differential depending on when you want the most power to the wheels. But if you really want a jump in horsepower, you need to install a super charger. Now THAT will make a difference! Watch out though, because front wheel drive may not be able to handle the power. You get "torque steer" problems etc. and race cars or high speed autobahn cars don't use front wheel drive (in general) as you know.

Upgrade the Carberators. Try getting a Holley or Edelbrock carb. Thats about the easiest thing you can do to get it more power.
