I own a 2002 Saturn L1 series, it has 55,000 miles on it. When i am driving in stop & go traffic, sometimes on the temperature gauge the needle will go to hot in around 5 to 10 minutes time, when i start driving on the highway at regular speed it will go back to normal. The guy at jiffy-lube told me to get a radiator flush ($80) and this would alleviate the problem. IT DIDNT. My questions are what is the problem? Should I definetly get this fixed? If I dont do anything about this what will happen? How much should it cost to fix the problem? How long should it take? I am suppose to go to Florida next weekend for a little R & R, but I would rather fix my car if I have to cause I need my car for work. I live on Long Island in NY and a very hot summer is here so I have to do something quick. Any advice, help would really be appreciated. I value the answeres from my friends on this site. THANKS!!!!!

my boyfreind got into a fender bender and hit out the plastic covering on the headlight of the other guy's car. there are some minor scratches and a ding on the hood. the guy said he would have an estimate and it came out to about 1,600 dollars. the thing is the guy took it to his uncle's repair shop and i beleive they are in cahoots together. by law i beleive you have to get more than one estimate and he is pretty reluctant to do so. my boy is willing to pay for the repairs and they agreed not to contact the insurance company. last month my boyfreind's sister got into an accident and the whole front was destroyed and that alone is 2,000 dollars. how much should it cost on average? this guy is smelling pretty fishy.....

2003 Explorer. Put the key in ignition and turned to ON. All the Guages went to full (tach, speedo, oil, temp, fuel). I turned it to OFF and TOOK THE KEY OUT. The the starter started turning. I had to disconnect the battery to make it stop. I was not aware of a remote starter on this car - what can I look for and can I remove it myself?

What I am trying to figure out is the firing order on the coil itself. I am facing the vehicle looking at the coil pack. I know ford's cylinder order is 123 456, but what side does the 123 start on? Driver side or passenger side?

Besides the necessary stuff like an oil change what else needs to be done to maintain my car? And, how often should I do these things?

I bought a 1985 Nissan Maxima GL Wagon.
It hasn't been used for 7 years.
I replaced the battery, but after that I can't decide what to overhaul first.
The alternator/charge light won't come on when the key is in "On" position,
and the car won't attempt to start.
Is it possible that some starter components have seized after not being used for 7 years, and is it possible to fix it myself

I have an 03 Dodge Dakota... I haven't had the oil changed in a while... a few days ago the "Check gauges" light kept coming on and a "clicking" sound when I was in park mode. Well last night I pull into my driveway and the entire truck shuts off.

It takes several turns to start it back up.. and when it does, the entire engine and truck starts to shake, giving off a loud noise like something is loose. I checked the oil and it almost had no oil, and no water in the radiator.

I put oil and water in and the "check gauges" light went off but the "check engine" light came on and when I started the truck, it began to jerk real hard, still making a loud noise.

Anyone know what this means?

It doesn't make any noise when I brake, and I have recently change the belts hoping this would fix the issue. The squeaking comes and goes, but only happens when the car is in motion.

I've asked before and got a lot of help, but I would definitely appreciate any advice.

Hey guys(and gals), I have a 98 camry 4 cylinder with a check engine light on. I went to autozone and got it read. P0401 EGR Flow is insufficient. Alright so I did some research and the most common resolve is that the EGR vacuum modulator is what needs to be replaced. I called up a local shop and they quoted me for $245 to replace it. However, for around $80 I should be able to just buy the part. If someone could point me in direction of where I can go to figure this out or how I can do it myself let me know. thanks.

My sister just got a Jetta and it was running fine. It has about 100 K miles on it and it is in really good condition. However, after about a week of driving it she went to start it and nothing happened. They thought it might be the battery, but after a jump it still didn't work. The lights and everything work so it's not the battery. And when I say nothing happens when she puts the key in I do mean nothing, theres no sound or anything. What could be wrong?

Two nites ago it made some clicking noises inside the dash after starting and the gauge lights and dash lights went on/off/on/off 4 times. In the morning the guage lights were all on as if the key was still in it. Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it seemed to go back to normal - but only for one start. Can remotely unlock/lock doors, but cannot set off alarm. Got new battery and when I put the key in, turned to on and sat back - it started on it's own. While driving it makes clicking noises (a bit louder than turn signal, and a little faster) and the dash lights go on/off/on/off. This also gets interupted when I step on the brake. A friend suggested I have the alarm looked at or even disconnected if too exensive to fix. The fuses under the hood all look OK, but I could not locate the fuse box that's supposed to be under the left side of the dash per owner's manual. Long answers or large files Ok to send to my email.

My 1983 Jeep CJ7 has in I6. I had a minor oil leak, which seemed to have turned into a seam leak across the whole valve cover... I was driving when it made a pop and sizzle sound and it is smoking really bad. I have oil in my spark plugs and water in my oil res. Somebody told me that I have bad piston rings, and possibly some bad seals and gaskets. One guy thinks I should change out the engine. Is this repairable? Can I do this repair myself? What would I need? Please advise....... I dont want to spend 3k.... my budget is like 1k, and I am somewhat mechanical.

Whenever I get to about 4000 rpms (seems to be mostly in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears), the car surges and the rpms rapidly surge and die out, making the car lunge a hell of alot. I've got about 150k miles on the engine). Anyone know what this problem is?
Thanks in advance for whatever the bad news might be.
