Besides the necessary stuff like an oil change what else needs to be done to maintain my car? And, how often should I do these things?

I am a 52 year old female. Raised with 2 mechanics in the family. Was taught young to check everything each time I fill the tank. Oil,Transfluid,Power steering, antifreeze, tire pressure. This catches things before they get below recommended levels and causes damages. I get an oil change either at 3000 miles or 3 months what ever comes first. changes the transfluid every 20000 miles. Most of my cars when I get rid of them are still running like new and usually have over 100000 miles on them.

Open the glove box. Pull out the manual. Thumb through it until you come upon a chapter with information such as the "Scheduled maintenance for you vehicle." It will have a list of the things needful and the miles they should be done. That is your best and definitive answer. If the manual isn't there, go to the dealer for your car and get one. Since you didn't mention make year or model of your car, I can't be any more specific than that.

The best way is to refer to the owners manual. It will list what is necessary and at what mileage.

If you don't have one however, then here's what you should do. Air filter and fuel filter every 15k. Radiator flush at 60k. Brakes serviced at 30k. Tune up every 30k. Transmission flush every 25k.

That should just about take care of it!

The list is long, but just follow your cars maintanence schedule in your cars owners manual. There you will find a time/ mileage schedule to follow.
Good luck........

There is a lot to do........Look at the owners manual...It will tell you. You can find one at a junk yard or ebay if you don't have one. Also a repair manual will give you the info...You can get one at most auto parts stores......Good luck.....
