WD-40 is excellent for removing bugs and road tar. Just wash the area after you use it

Stop by your local auto parts store and get some bug-off.Spray it on all the front end and windshield let work for a few minites then wash exterior with soap and water.The bug-off makes the job eazy..

get a dab of peanut butter , it works as an abrasive to remove bugs and road tar , rub it on , let the oils in it work in and wait a few then rub it in as well as off , works great for me on chrome as well as painted surfases without scratching anything , better than a brillo pad

Hot water and a towel. I would never use solvents or oil on my car's paint, but the stuff in the cans at parts store are exactly that. So they might be safe to use, but hot water and towels are basically free and sure not to harm paint.
