I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. It does not have power windows or locks. Can those things be installed and how much would something like that cost? Where would i go to have something like that done?

It can be installed but this car is over 10 years old.
You will never get the reasle back.
My father had a car and had the pw installed after the purchase.
They never worked as well as installed by factory.
Save your money for another project.

It can be done but.......The cost of the power window conversion would be kind of pricey. The parts (used) would cost about $100.00 a door. The problem would be the wiring. Your vehicle has no wiring for power windows so either a harness must be created or the complete harness would have to be removed from a donor vehicle (used) and re-installed. This would be the other expensive side of it. Most electrical work is at least 100.00 per hour or more. The bonus to having manual windows would be that power windows go bad but manual window regulators hardly ever go bad, they are durable.
Power locks on the other hand are easier to install and less expensive. They runs about 25.00-35.00 per door in parts(used) and take a lot less time to install.
I would be sure to take this to shop that specializes in automotive electrical work.

No, most SUVs get poor gas mileage. If you want an SUV with better gas mileage, you should get a car-based SUV, not something truck-based. The Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V easily get 25+ mpg on the highway. Thats much better then an Liberty or Cherokee.
