I recently had my brakes worked on, they started squeaking not too long after, I took my car back and said the brakes were fine just they must squak a little bit. Just wanted to know if teher was anything you could do just to quiet that without messing up the brake.

Take it back and get them to lube the linings and deglaze the contacting areas.
Should have been done in the service.

The problem you are having is an easy permanent fix.
At your local NAPA auto parts store pick up a tube of CRC Brake Quiet. It's a high temperature silicone material.

Remove the caliper and pads. Spray the back (steel) side of the pads with brake clean. Some pads have an anti-vibration shim on the reverse side. Leave it on the pads and clean them off the best you can. Spread the back side of the pad (and shim if it's there) with a thickness of .060 with the Brake Quiet material. Let it dry for 15 minutes before re-assembling the pads inside the calipers. I'll guaranty you'll have a smile on your face.

Good luck

If your brakes are fine, then the squeaking is comming from dust caught between the pads and the rotors, or the shoes and drum. Get some of the brake cleaner or a can of compressed air and carefuly use it to clean out the area between the pad and the rotor.

Yes, sudden stops when brakes are new cause uneven wear and cause the squeaking. When you brake your car brake slow and start braking if you can ahead of time. You will see after a number of times doing this the squeaking will stop.

yes there is a way. replace the pads with the original one. make sure you install new pad shims too. squeak are cause by low quality metal from brake pads, missing shims, not giving the pads enough time to break in.

some times dirt gets between the pad and the rotor not unusual on vehicles. take you car to a power wash the one with the wands (quarter wash) take a friend with you. very slowly move the car foward and backward while spraying directly on to the pads while the car is moving. becareful and the micro dirt will go down the drain. they use softer pads now and they will collect a lot of micro dirt
