Hi, I have a 1998 rover 111, that's in PERFECT condition, only done 19000 miles. Recently had an MOT and service where I mentioned the fact that it drops a bit of oil. They cleaned the sump completely but it's still dropping a bit of oil. The oil itself is fine, the pressure and temp is fine, and it's only leaking about a drop or two a night, but still, we have a new drive and my mom isn't keen on it! And I'm worried about my little tiddler :)! Anyone got any suggestions?

I meant a drop or two a week.

And also...no smarmy half arsed answers please. It's my car and I'll judge whether it's in perfect condition.

Oh and I just spoke to my mom, she said it's been doing it for as long as she can remember, but it's never had any adverse effects.

Place a clean sheet of meat wrapping paper under your car and trace exactly where the drip is. It most likely will be the transmission pan or crankcase oil pan. You 'll have to decide weather it's worth dropping either of these pans cleaning one or the other and adding new silicone gaskets on the ends of the motor pan ans re-silicone the side rails of the pan and re-installing. It's going to cost $200. - $300 for an independent to do it. Use premium Fel-Pro gasket for this job. You may have a bad front or rear main seal also. Have everything checked by a professional. If you've never done these jobs leave it to a pro.

The trans pan will cost under $200. for a fluid change and a new premium Fel - Pro gasket.

Cars in PERFECT condition don't drop oil.
