Just pulled the engine and noticed alot of metal shavings around the torque converter and bellmouth housing. Im planning on getting a new torque converter anyway and have never had issues with the transmission. 3 speed automatic C-6. No discoloration or shavings in the fluid noticed.

I bought a car from a coworker. its a 2000 Kia Sportage, stick shift. he claimed it was in wonderful condition his wife "babyed" the car because she loved it so much. they showed me all the reciptes on all the work or repairs that were done, they bought a new battery and new tires for it within the last month and cosmeticly it looked great. my mother drove it home the first night (cuz i cant drive stick and she can) and it over heated by the time i got there, i called the guy he said he would take it to the mechanic and have the "diagnostics" done to fix whatever the problem was instead he did a quick replacement in the parking lot at work. it over heated again. i want to get my money back and have yet to discuss it with him (this just happened last night) but someone said it could be over heating because i am overheating the clutch. could it be my fault, or was it already messed up?

I would like to make myself a check-list of all possible factors which could cause bad fuel mileage. I would prefer answers only from those people who have legitimate mechanical knowledge and understanding about vehicles. (i.e. trained mechanics) Any suggestions excluding environmental causes such as weather, road conditions, speed, grade, etc., would be very much appreciated.
I would sure like to solve this problem, but convetional methods have failed so far. So I would like to make a check list of all possible causes and then go through them one by one and check off what I have done and hasn't worked, then move on to try the next logical option until I get this sorted out.
Thanks to those of you who are patient enough to read through this and provide some insight.

The clutch only vibrates when slightly pressed. When fully released or pushed in, it does not do this. Also, I can't get into 1st gear, it's as if the stick is locked. It was working fine the last time I drove it.
What can I do? I can't even take the car to the mechanic because I can't get it in gear.
Is this a symptom of clutch wearing out? I thought it would be less dramatic...like clutch slipping a little initially.

A while back the heater blowers on my Peugeot 206 (GTi 138bhp 2000-X) developed a fault whereby blowing speed would vary eratically. I may have set speed using the segment display of the control unit, but there'll be random blasts at higher speeds interrupting set speed. Seems to occur more in urban driving 'cos it settles once on m/way but restarts when I come off m/way. Just recently I started getting squealing noises, which seem to be linked to the random blowing speed changes... it seems to start when the blower is operating at its set speed - between the higher speed blasts - and ease / stop when blowing speed increases. They are less likely on the m/way. Noise is coming from what looks like blower motor, well behind the front of centre console and can be seen more from footwells.
Does anyone know what this fault is, if the faulty part can be fixed easily or if new part is likely to be needed - what part is it?
Car has climate control / air-con which possibly makes no difference

Hi, I'm buying a wrx 05 in november this year and I would like to know the difference bet a twin muffler and single, i had a 99 wrx a couple years ago and put the 2 and half inch from the cat back i think and got the cannon exhaust, that was loud, i was wondering if i got the cat back 2 1/2 and a twin muffler would that be much quiter then the cannon, i dont want it to be noisy in the mornings but when i give it i want the perring sound to be there aswell. so really would the twin be half the noise as the cannon? and would it make much noise diff if i didnt get the catback and got the muffler ???? thanks for you time :)
