hi there! i have a 1988 olds delta 88 3.8 and i have this rattle in my exhaust.sounds like its coming from the intermediate pipe,and its been there for the past 4 yrs now,dont get any better,or worse.i was wondering,would a rusty pipe cause a rattle.i check it out all over,and no heat shield is loose or hitting the pipe,and all hangers and clamps are tight.these cars has heat shields from the front to the back.so that is what iam asking,if the pipe is rusty,would it make a rattle?thanks guys.

My 94 BMW 325i has a slight miss somewhere around 2500 RPMS. If you give gas, or let off the gas, this miss goes away. But if its held steady at 2500 RPMS, the miss stays. Any clue what this could be? There are no lights that come on, and its not the transmition... The car is near flawless with only 100K on it.

There are so many confusing options with motor oil how do you choose? I live near Phoenix, AZ and I have an 1993 Toyota Tercel with 130k miles on it. I have been using 5W30 oil because that's what someone who supposedly knows something about cars suggested I use. First of all, why 5W30? Do I want a synthetic oil? And what about the brands; they are all different prices but what is the difference between them? Is it worth it to buy a more expensive brand?

How could you take the excess off? My real question is Why is the oil the color of chocolate milk? I drove it about 2 1/2 miles today, and got a lot of thick, thick smoke, it sounded as if it were going to bog out. Also the motor is making a funny sound, something between a quiet diesel, and volkswagon, but not a diesel volkswagon. Kind of like a raspy -rattle. My boyfriend says the sound is knocking, I don't agree. Any suggestion?

k i hav a two seater moped but i need to sell it b/c i need money to buy a truck, but i don't know how to fix the moped, it hasn't been run in a couple of years and it just won't start, it will sound like it will but it won't. i charged the battery and it's a 2003, and it's really nice, but it just won't start, and i don't know where to start to get it to work. and it wouldn't really make sense to spend money on getting it fixed so i could sell it.

Is an automobile fuel pump suppose to run for as long as the engine is running? Isnt it suppose to automatically stop when the gas in the fuel injector is adequate and start again when it's low? The reason I asked is this: I had a new fuel pump installed and I can hear it whirring away for as long as the engine is running, even when my car is idling.

My friend says putting motor oil in gas tank will ruin the engine i think a valve grinding compound will be the worst. Neither of us feel safe testing these ideas, so i was wondering if any mechanic knew the answer??

i own a 97' cadillac catera with 80,000 miles. the oil pressure light goes off and it tends to eat oil. the dip stick isnt milky or light brown, the oil looks like regular oil. i took it to the shop to see why the pressure light goes off and they said it wasnt the sensor and i may need an oil pump. i told them i was going to get a 2nd opinion and he said it could still be my sensor. i was mad, so i left. when i took it home that day, my car started smoking from under the hood. all the antifreeze was gone. i believe my antifreeze is leaking, i put cardboard under my car and i have a leak. my car doesnt have white smoke from the tail pipe, it only smokes a little if it is cold outside then when it warms up its fine. some think it a head gasket, but im not sure. i was also told that my car has a horrible engine and that i should sell it as soon as possible. what should i do!?

I have never done it before I know the pattern, but do I have to do anything special when putting the tires back on, like tourque them a certain amount or what, I am really not sure what to do, so any help would be greatly apprecieated, thanks.

I have a Honda Prelude Si. It used to get good gas mileage (30+ MPG), but within the past four months the mileage has plummeted to <25 mpg. I can use 1/4 of a tank to go 30 miles!

This sucks big time! Any suggestions as to what might be causing it? And no, I don't have a leak in my gas tank either. And no, it's not being siphoned. I can see the gas gauge move while I'm driving.
