I prefer a colder a/c and I have had a different car previously, same make, model, and year, and the a/c got a leak and shut down. I convertied from R-12 to R-134a and the a/c wasn't as cold. I later got rid of that car and got another car which was the same year and everything. 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville. I had a friend who is HVAC certified and has a 608 license. He converted his blazer from R-12 to R-22 and it was damn cold. I want to do the same with my Cadillac now that I have sprung a leak in the condenser. After I have the condenser replaced and have the system checked again for leaks, I want to convert the system to R-22 after my mechanic is sure ithe system is leak free. Since my old friend is no longer my friend and has moved away, I am having some mechanic do it who is ASE a/c certified as well as HVAC. He said the change-over will not be much of a problem. What exactly is involved. I know R-22 is more expensive and being phased out. Not concerned about that.

Can someone give me ideas about where I can dump used oil out of my car. I really don't want to pay anyone to do this, and preferably I'd like to just to the place and dump it myself and not have to wait/talk to anyone.

96 Chevy Lumina van

33 degrees outside, 1/4 tank fuel

This morning I took my husband in to work, van running just fine at normal operating temps. After dropping him off, van started hesitating and lost power before stalling. started again, hesitated, stalled again. did this several times, now won't start at all.
Could there be moisture in the fuel lines causing this even though the van had already been running for about 40 minutes at normal operating temp?
Can't find any info on the internet on fuel line moisture or freeze up symptoms.
This is our only vehicle, so I'm desperate. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I have a 94 subaru legacy wagon. Last weekend we had a big snow storm and my car sat out overnight in it. When I went to leave my car had water in the tank and I had to putt putt over to the gas station to fill up the tank and put in gas treatment. Then it was fine. Well, last night we had more snow. I figured I was OK because my tank was 3/4 of the way full. Somehow, I got water in my tank again and had to drive over to the station, put in gas and more treatment. It worked fine. My question is, how is water getting into my tank and what can I do to fix it? I have to park outside, so parking in a garage is not an option. Thanks!

i backed into a snow bank a few days ago and later that night when i got into my car to leave it sounded realllly loud. i know what it sounds like to have a hole in my muffler but it was a different noise. When i accelerate it gets really loud and i can hear each shift (its a 2000 automatic Camry). I had my dad look at it but from the outside it sounds normal! even when im accelerating. but when u sit in the car w/the door shut its loud. there is no hole, dent or anything else in the muffler...

does any one have ANY suggestions?

The reason I ask is that I took my car (Ford Focus 1.8 TDi 1999) into National Tyres in November last year and they replaced the Brake Shoe Set but again in January this year they have replaced it again but they also used a Brake Fitting Kitt. Obviously I am going to ask them for a refund but i think there area manager is going to bull**** me.

How long should these parts last under normal usage? and why would they use a Brake Fitting Kit once but not the other time?

Please help the area manager is going to phone me soon !

Everytime I go over a bump I hear a rattle in the front passengerside. When I have a passanger in it they can feel it under their feet. I have put new shocks all around. And new ball joints. My friend said he thinks the heat shield is loose. Is this a necessary or can it be removed? My uncle who is a professional welder says the metal is too thin to weld it so I would most likely have to remove it

It's got a 7.7L (Or 472 cu. in. engine). Someone told me it's by the carburetor, another person told me it's under the driver seat under the car. I have no clue. I've looked at both places and couldn't find anything, unless it's IN the carburetor or elsewhere.

the motor smokes from tail pipe , and the engine start and sounds pretty good ,but i try to turn the distributor just little bump and car wont run,and then i can turn it back and wont run , then i cant put it back to where it was and its still hard to start... but it will start, with no take off speed on the car,top speed is like 25,and the carb is rebuilt and compression is good on this 4 cylinder motor

Ok I have a 98 chevy 1-ton with the 6.5 diesel. I know, I know. I rather like it. I have 2 codes. They are; 1. boost pressure low or inadiquate; 2. coolant temp low (temp gauge shows 170 degrees all the time). I live in phoenix low coolant temp is never something we have to worry about here. runs fine no loss of "power". I know these turbos are notorious for slobber could this be a reason behind the first code? A gunked up pressure gauge? oh yeah 117k on odometer.
