Why it stalls is unkown, but the oil light comes on because the engine isn't running and the oil pump isn't turning, that is normal. Have the error codes checked at a place like autozone.

Well, the oil pressure light sounds to be coming on "after" the car stalls, so let's stay with stalling...

Does the idle drop off when you stop? It could very well be a vacuum hose break. Look all around the engine compartment, fine all the small rubber hoses, there will be quite a few. Make sure none have slipped off, or that the plastic barbs they slip on haven't broken or cracked.

This is actually the most common cause of rough idle or stalling at stops...

Oil pressure will come on when the engine stalls. Have codes checked. Sounds like ISC(idle speed control)motor or possibly EGR valve(exhaust Gas Recirculation)not seating properly.

sounds like it could be low oil level ,have you checked the oil ? it may have a sensor that shuts down the engine when oil pressure is low to prevent serious damage. at higher rpms. the oil pressure will come up and stay running. if oil level is right it could be a bad sensor of some sort. check fault codes. is it under warranty still ?

seems i may have miss-read your question. yes oil light wil come on normally when not running. check for vacuum leak and ck. fault codes.

Your dash light indicators are supposed to all come on when you first turn the key on to verify that they all work. So your red oil light should flash on when you turn the key to on.
