That's a pretty old radiator. It's probably clogged and in need of replacing. One thing that can go wrong with hoses is when someone replaces the big suction hose on the bottom of the radiator and doesn't put the spring back in. That causes the hose to collapse when the thermostat opens up.

the weather is getting warmer which doesn't help, their are only a thew things, the thermostat is jammed, this releases warm water to your engine to keep it cool, you want know this unless you take the water pump off (check your manual because on some models of cars the thermostat sits inside the water pipe itself) and it will be sitting inside, its like a brass valve and only costs a couple of pound, if its not that is your fan working? when you temperature gage is getting close to the red dose your electric fan kick in and try to cool you engine down?, if its not that your rad may be knackered but this is the last resort changing your rad, is the car also full of oil? and full of water, in the water tank probably is, but you have to ask, and if their is no watter you have a leak, and if its non of this then your engine is knacked. .................but the one i would guaranty personally and you do have allot of problems with, because you might not use the car so much, is the thermostat she might stay idle for a long time and is prone for jamming and don't try to hit the casein because some thermostat covers are made of aluminum, and that's a no no hope i was some help ta ta for know my friend

If the hose is leaking, definately. If you aren't losing coolant...not likely. Could be a faulty thermostat. Just remove it and run without it and see what happens. It won't hurt your car....just make it take longer to warm up...usually. Also if you want take the thermostat out and put it into boiling water to make sure it is opening as it should.

double check your antifreeze level.sometimes if the level is not at the right amount, your car will overheat also it maybe that your thermostat is defective.
check your radiator to see if it is in good condition.
