I prefer a colder a/c and I have had a different car previously, same make, model, and year, and the a/c got a leak and shut down. I convertied from R-12 to R-134a and the a/c wasn't as cold. I later got rid of that car and got another car which was the same year and everything. 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville. I had a friend who is HVAC certified and has a 608 license. He converted his blazer from R-12 to R-22 and it was damn cold. I want to do the same with my Cadillac now that I have sprung a leak in the condenser. After I have the condenser replaced and have the system checked again for leaks, I want to convert the system to R-22 after my mechanic is sure ithe system is leak free. Since my old friend is no longer my friend and has moved away, I am having some mechanic do it who is ASE a/c certified as well as HVAC. He said the change-over will not be much of a problem. What exactly is involved. I know R-22 is more expensive and being phased out. Not concerned about that.
