I have a very small spot where rust opened up a hole in the gas line under the car. Since the gas is under pressure from the fuel injector it starts to leak out (perhaps a thimble full over a night. I have received two quotes - one for $3000 and another for $1500 which are so wild and bizarre I'm baffled. Can this not be fixed by a patch or taking out the gas tank and running a new line? Both have said 450 in parts and thousands in labour costs - junk the car. But the car is in immaculate shape other than this one issue. Also, any suggestion where to go (live in Toronto but would consider between here out to Cape Breton NS) Thanks in advance!!!

I was driving on the snow and the only way to keep moving so I didn't get stuck was to keep spinning and I could feel jerking and stuff. Would that damage or hurt my car in any way? Is it something I need to beat myself up over?

I have a 1987 Caddilac Cimmaron with very low mile I just bought & the visors attached to the headliner will not stay they keep flapping down when I drive in my face both of them do this but there is a wire in them because the mirrors used to light up in them now they don't work, I want to remove the visors but am scared if I cut those wires it may short something out or catch fire (cars old). I tried to velcro them up but it just came down & tore some of the headliner material. I can't afford to pay someone right now to redo them & headliner
What can I do to either remove them or keep them up a cheap way that works?

I have a 1994 Nissan Altima that has some paint chipping, worn, etc. mostly on the bumper.

Is there a cheap touch up paint that will look pretty good or is it just a waste of time?

I recently bought a 96 sable. It is not dohc. It started over-heating, so my brother immediately changed the thermostat. He also did the plugs and wires and such. There was no thermostat in it when he took the casing off to change it. It seemed fine. Drove it a few miles, overheated again. Took it to a garage. They said it might be from air in radiator hoses. Let any air out that may have been there. The fan up front is kicking on. There was also a radiator cap that didn't fit very well that I replaced. When the mechanic was changing the oil, he said there was no filter in the oil filter. That it was hollowed out, but the oil was really good. Seemed not to overheat when he let it sit and run for about 15-20 mins., but I think there might be something else wrong. The heat seemed only warm, not hot. Or maybe it could just be me. I don't really know, I just want some ideas because I am going out of town soon. White smokeonly on start-up and no water/antifreeze in oil no leak in radiator.

I found the perfect van, and its a great price, but it needs transmission repair, and I need to know how much that could cost, and if it needed a whole new transmission, how much would that cost? I need figures for the midwest, (where I am) and including Labor. The van is a 1998 Ford Windstar Ext Sport Van, milage is: 93,630, and since your probly wondering, its going for less than $1,500. I definatly need to do my research before purchase, because it has to last and safely transport children. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOU HELP!

So i'm going about my usual before work routine in the morning, as im doing that I start my car to warm it up before work.. I start it up and it idles nicely, then I go inside to grab my cell phone and when I get outside its making a clunking sound.. The car is a pontiac transam and the engine is a smallblock 400 chevy and its just been serviced by my mechanic.. The only way I can describe the sound, is the sound your engine makes when it overruns (when ya turn the key off and it keeps on trying to run) the timing is good, the oil is sweet, the coolant is where it should be.. What makes an engine do that???

This was not good. I hadn't started my car in about a week. Its been parked outside in average temperature of around 30 F.
I just started it tonight and when I backed out, I saw there was a black tar on the snow , about a circle's worth with diameter about 3-4 inches. It was under the front part of my car.

I dont kno wmuch about cars but it looks like it would be an oil leak?

What do I do?

Thanks.

I'm trying to get my wife '91 ford escort sw on the road again. Recently the old starter broke and a new one was installed. The car didn't start nor crank, so I posted a question asking for help. Just to be sure, I took out the starter and test it again, hoping it was bad. Couple users recommended I checked the starter relay and the neutral safety switch, but it's an automatic transmission. The battery is charged. What I'm doing wrong?

I have a 1997 Mazda MX6 LS, and i think the front rotors are in need of replacement. I say this because when i brake on the highway the the brakes shake, and when i come to a slow stop the brakes make a knocking noise.

My question is how do i remove the rotors? My main problem i think is going to be how to remove the capiliar. After that the rotor just kinda slides off doesnt it? How would i remove the capilar?

Thanks!

I have a 2000 E250 with a Triton V8. In the last year I have had it at the dealer at least 6 times for an engine miss that keeps recurring. They have replaced plugs, coils, hoses, even the entire intake manifold but within a couple of months the miss re-appears. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone found a solution?

flasher, tail, brake, parking lights etc work fine... even without the signal and/or backup lights on.. I can put a new fuse in the #5 position in the fuse box under the dash..... just turn the key on (that's all...) and it blows the 15 amp fuse immediately... I have unpluged the signal lights from the blinker, dimmer, washer in the column and the backup harness to the backup lite switch on left side of the transmission; put a new fuse in - turn on the key and it blows everytime...took off the fuse box and checked the back of it for shorted wiring ....... nothing....... removed the threshhold plate at drivers door and all wiring is just fine.... checked underneath van and everything looks great.... removed both rear tail lights units and check them and the light bulb sockets for short and nothing........ HELP HELP HELP I do not have much hair left...
thank you all....... this is our Church Van and I am trying to fix it before Sunday..... thanks again and God Bless you ALL
