Sounds like a torque converter or one of your valves. Not good, probably means a new tranny or get the old one fixed. And if your gears were stripped you would hear them. The gears in an automatic almost never strip.

Check your transmission fluid level. Do this by starting the engine and leave it in park. Then check the Transmission dipstick the same way you would check the oil. Add oil if necessary in the same hole the dipstick is in. Don't add too much. If you're level is ok and you didn't need to add any, then take it to a transmission shop and open your wallet. You're looking at least a $1200 bill. Good luck.

Sounds like a terminal transmition problem. Bands slipping. Maybe try getting it serviced, but expect the worst. Sorry

sounds like to me your trans is slipping or has already died. I had it happen to me in a '94 ford thunderbird. Take it in to a professional and I'll bet they will find that the gears are stripped.

Trans is dead. I would guess bands or clutches. Not gears - that would make a very loud noise. A friend had this happen once, and in his case, it was the clutches. Either way, you're looking at a new trans.

Good luck!

fluids low or the pump is going, damage is done to trans if the fluid was low. may go for a while but expect problems in future

have you checked the trans fluid level? also a good cure is to change fluid and install new filter.
