i just recently put on a super 40 flowmaster on my 97 Z71. its a Dual in/Dual out pipes. when i start the truck and let it warm up and then when i drive it sounds quiet. it only gets loud when i drive the truck for a while. i have 2 cats which connect to this one muffler. is it the cats that are making my muffler sound quiet when i first turn it on?

Most likely it’s your cats along with all the other emission control devices on your vehicle. You’re not going to get the hot rod sound unless you get a good set of headers or maybe put bigger pipes on past the cats. If you can afford the headers depending on where you live you may need to make sure there emission legal. You may also consider changing the intake tube or putting a chip in the computer.
