You should be able to take the colum apart and get it working. Go buy the Haynes maual for your truck. They are useful for all but auto transmition repair.

The shift linkage or cable is broken, or has come off. make beneficial the linkage/cable remains related firmly to the transmission, and to the shifter. (that is hassle-free to locate. Have a chum shift up and down with the engine off, on a similar time as you look decrease than the hood - you will desire to be certain it shifting.) If it has only come off, re-connect with the shifter in Park, and you will desire to be wonderful. good success!

right up my alley!.if the column shifter just flops up &down your linkage may be bent or need adjusting , also that year truck may have a brake pedal switch that may be bad if your stuck in park, the switch is seperate from the brake light switch, if it's bad it won't let you shift out park, if i understood your problem correctly!!

Climb under the truck, locate the transfer case and inspect it. If you see any fresh metal shavings or something dangling, you have a problem. But just get under the truck first!

first, check your shifting jinkage to be sure it is intact. and in proper location. if linkage is ok and , then it is possible the parking pawl inside the transmission is either broken or jsmmed somehow. not an expensive job. thats my guess.
