How could you take the excess off? My real question is Why is the oil the color of chocolate milk? I drove it about 2 1/2 miles today, and got a lot of thick, thick smoke, it sounded as if it were going to bog out. Also the motor is making a funny sound, something between a quiet diesel, and volkswagon, but not a diesel volkswagon. Kind of like a raspy -rattle. My boyfriend says the sound is knocking, I don't agree. Any suggestion?

When there is too much oil, the crankshaft lobes will hit the oil in the pan and turn it into a foam, which the oil pump cannot pickup very well. This results in oil starvation for the engine and all of the symptoms you have described. It is a real possibility that the engine has been damaged beyond repair, but I would recommend taking it to a professional auto facility to verify this. ASE.com is the place where you can find an ASE rated Blue Seal facility, an elite certification that belongs to only 3-4% of all shops in the nation, ensuring that you are getting the cream of the crop. The excess can be drained by removing the drain plug for several seconds and then putting it back in. Then check the oil level and drain more out if necessary, or add. The chocolate milk color is typically from mixing of the oil and coolant, likely a result of a blown head gasket from excessive temperatures probably from oil starvation due to bubbly oil frothed by the crankshaft. It is also possible that the engine block or cylinder head is cracked from the high heat. I would at least prepare for the real possibility of getting a new vehicle.

The oil may be hitting the crankshaft. Take it to a oil change place and have them drain the extra oil out. See if this clears up the noise in the engine and see if the oil returns to normal color.

If your oil is still messed up and the engine is making noise, and I will guess you are using coolant too, then you may have a blown head gasket. A compression test on the engine would confirm this.

Hi! Hopefully your oil in no way resembles any kind of milk - very bad! If you put two quarts too much in you need to get them out as soon as possible. They will create excessive oil pressure, and a seal failure. There are many seals, and the weakest one will fail causing oil to leak out. If your oil looks like chocolate milk you have oil mixed with your coolant. See if your radiator has oil in it. Check your oil to see if there's antifreeze in it. Have your boyfriend pull your spark plugs to see if they're wet, or have a milky goop on them. If they do, you'll be dealing with a blown head gasket. Note: Antifreeze is corrosive, and will destroy rod, mains, and cam bearings. The lobes on your cam may be pitted as well. Drain your oil out, and change the filter. If the symtoms repeat, you are probely looking at a rebuild. Hope this helps, good luck!

i own a repair shop and first off if its got too much oil in it it will cause it to flood the bottom half of the engine, and it will sling it up,and burn some of it,and also it will make it blow just about every seal the engine has in it from too much pressure being built up in it,id suggest you drain it all back out,,and only put what it needs and then deal with the other problem, that sounds like anti freeze and water ,mixed together in it,good luck i hope this helps.,PS you may also have a problem with a blown head gasket on it,that's a slight possibility also, good luck.

If you add too much oil to your car then the excess is spilled over into the engine and burned or overflow into the air intake. This is what caused the thich bluish smoke and what caused the knocking. The air intake is clogged with the oil. You will need to take it to a mechanic and will have to replace the air filters after the car is cleaned out.

the chocolate milk is coolant mixing with the oil. usually from a blown head gasket. the smoke would be the coolant buring in the cyliders and the knocking would be the engine trying to compress the coolant that is in the cylinder which it can't do.

If it look like chocolate milk you have blown the head gasket. Have you let it run hot lately? Has the car overe heated? Over heating is the main cause of blown head gaskets (in the civilian world). Sorry. I wish you well.... that is an expensive fix.

Sounds like you have a blown headgasket. When oil and coolant mix , you pull the dipstick and it looks like a milk shake. You need to park it and have it towed to a shop. you may have already damaged it beyond repair. Coolant will whipe out your main bearings so do not drive it or crank it, tow it.

If you put in that much extra oil in your engine drain it back out, it will cause the seals in the engine to fail. Fix this problem now!!!
