k i hav a two seater moped but i need to sell it b/c i need money to buy a truck, but i don't know how to fix the moped, it hasn't been run in a couple of years and it just won't start, it will sound like it will but it won't. i charged the battery and it's a 2003, and it's really nice, but it just won't start, and i don't know where to start to get it to work. and it wouldn't really make sense to spend money on getting it fixed so i could sell it.

...Ok, well this is what I'd do if:

turns over but won't start
_______________________

1. Change the gas to start with. if it hasn't ran, chances are the fuel is beyond bad.
2. replace with new fuel
3. put a bit of starting fluid in the carb pickup line
4. once its running put some "seafoam"---http://www.seafoamsales.com/
5. replace plug...or plugs
6. Make sure you change the oil also

if it won't turn over
_______________

Buy new battery. moto batteries...really any auto battery won't last for 2-3 years without being started occasionally

Check the conections, if the terminals look nasty, clean them with a wire brush

Check the regulator

Make sure you change the fuel and oil first thing no matter what.

well, it depends on how much you can sell it for, before you decide it's not worth it to get it fixed. Did you just let it sit up? You have to start it every once in a while. Make sure it has gas. Make sure the battery is not dead. If you have both of these together, try getting some engine start spray from the automotive store. Sometimes if an engine has not started in a while or if it is in very cold weather there is a spray they sell that advertises it helps the engine start. See if someone will give you a free estimate or charge a small price just to look at it and at least identify the problem.

Try changing the gas. Also you can make these 2 checks. First, pull the spark plug wire and have your X boy friend put his finger in the socket and then turn the engine over, if he screams like a girl then the electrical is OK. Second, pour a small amount of gas 2-3 tablespoons directly into the carberator (remove airfilter) and try to start. Spark and fuel are your 2 main ingredients for a running engine And one is probably your problem.

Mopeds are rather cheap.. yer not even gonna get enough money to put a down payment on a used truck.. hell i can buy a brand new Honda metro for $1800.00 and thats a level above a moped

yer chaseing yer tail on this one.. mopeds running & in good shape go for about $200-$300 ...

I'm not kidding.. I can buy any 50 no running mopeds tomorrow for $15 each.. running ones i can get for $50-$75..

But if you must (if its a moped it aint worth much) likely yer carb is crudded up as well as the spark plug.. remove both clean both and re assemble...
