a friend of mine had taken his truck in to be repaired. he says the technition ruined something else while trying to repair the damage. now he says its going to cost 1500 to get it fixed and back to him. he doesnt have it in his possession. now he wants to get a new car but that doesnt make sense to me because the truck is paid. they will have the truck he paid for and he will be paying a note on a newer car with 90k miles on it. what sense does that make?

I bought a 4-cylinder, 2-WD 1981 Chevy Mikado (LUV) truck, and the oil needs to be changed. I plan on doing it myself, and I have everything to do it, but haven't been able to figure out what grade or how much oil to use. Anyone able to help me out?

Full gas tank and has run great until now. Only 75k miles. However last Sunday would not start. Engine turns over, but not starting. Started 15 minutes later just fine. Now problem has returned to stay. Engine cranks but no fire. Could be plugs, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, fuse? Thanks.

This is the latest talk of the town and I would like to read more about it. It's adding 2 oz. of acetone to 20 gal. of gasoline every time you fuel up.

my 6 cylinder odyssey has a cylinder failing, but my mechanic doesn't know which. He said he needs the check engine light to come on before he can get this information. Why is this? If it does need replacing, does the whole engine need to be taken out? How much would that cost?

I have a 1995 Chevy S10 4.3L truck, I have noticed occasionally that sometimes it doesn't want to accelerate, even if you put the pedal to the floor. Then sometimes if I pump the pedal once it will slowly accelerate and make a popping noise. At other times it will randomly surge as though I pressed the accelerator. The fuel economy isn't what it was, around 16 mpg vs the 20 it used to get. It has been worked on by myself and a shop, I changed the plugs, wires, rotor, coil, air filter, PVC valve is good, and they cleaned the EGR valve, replaced the screen, replaced the fuel filter, changed a couple vaccuum hoses, it still does this sometimes, any ideas?

I have noticed over the past 2 weeks a very slow oil leak. At most 1 drip every 1 to 2 days. I had the intake valves and gaskets replaced about 6 months ago. 98 Pontiac Grand AM GT. 140k miles. Also had power steering hose replaced about 6 weeks ago. Neither time was anything noticed or mentioned that may be causing the slow leak. Any thoughts?

I have a '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Yesterday while trying to start the van the dash remained off. (NO gages, no lites, nothing) It started up and ran (but it didn't feel right) I repeatly restarted the van still had the same problem. I was able to drive it although I didn't know how fast I was going or anything like that. Once I got to my desitination I restared it again...still same problem but now the Check Engine lite is on. Today my dash is working fine, but the service engine lite remains. The dealer won't even take it in till tomorrow. So I took it to autozone the code they got was PO1698 they didn't know what that meant. Am I screwed? Any ideas what the problem could be?

Had thermostat, water pump, and radiator changed. Replaced dexcool with regular green antifreeze. Heard lots of negative things about the dexcool. Car runs alot cooler with the green than with the dexcool before any problems. Is this ok to do? Will it cause any damage to car?

For more than a year, I've been using carbon-based 10W-30 motor oil on my Chevrolet 3100 series V-6. The manufacturer recommends a 5W-30, but due to high miles (120,000+) and some valve train noise when the engine's cold, I'd like to use a thicker oil on the next change. I switched to a 10W-30 over a year ago after noticing the noise.

Is a 10W-40 a step up in viscosity from a 10W-30, so to speak? FYI, I live in Michigan...cold winters and warm summers. Thank you!
