Ah - I've done this - or at least someone put the wrong plugs in for me. After I'd been driving for a while there was a big bang and my car (Citroen 2CV - the most tolerant of vehicles) stopped - when the nice man from the AA towed me to the nearest garage, I got those pitying looks from the mechanic! So you'd probably better not do it. But let's hope you get a better answer from somone who knows what they're talking about. I'll shut up now.

This is a bad idea don't use them. You have to have the correct spark plugs for your car or it can cause serious damage to your engine. We have recently seen a case of this in work, a man had been changing the spark plugs in his car himself, put the wrong ones in and basically f@@ked his engine, the repair bill was over a grand! Its better to be safe than sorry so get the right plugs for your engine!

2 things to consider here. Are they the same length as the old ones. (the threaded end) and the other is spark plugs will burn at different temperatures. Hotter or colder than the other. If you don't know the answer to either of these questions then definitely get the right ones.

i own shop, and if there not the right heat range on it ,all that will happen it may not run as good, you,ll notice a big difference in the way it runs, and performs, and if the plug is too long it can damage a piston in it, i think id just get the right plug for it,and be done with it,good luck with it,hope this helps.

3 things could happen.
1. No spark.
2. Poor flame propagation, leading to poor running.
3. If the plugs are too long - ENGINE DAMAGE!

If the plugs are to long, they could damage the piston or valves. If they are to short, you could have a miss-fire and damage the port for the plug. If incorrect heat range, you could have premature carbon buildup or detonation.
