The difficulty would be to prove that the activation was random. It would definitely be worth contacting the manufacturer as it may transpire that other cars have experienced something similar and there may be a design fault. As part of customer care, I would have thought it in their best interests to at least offer you something towards the replacement.

No. some thing is heavily incorrect with your airbags, and that they does not safeguard you interior the case of a severe twist of fate. If the inflater went off, and the vehicle crammed with smoke without the airbags deploying, it replaced into some thing different than the airbags. The 'smoke' linked with airbags is properly the powder permitting the baggage to slip as they set up. have you ever had a qualified physique save verify out the area to work out what is going on? If not, i might propose you gain this. At any value, whether it does become the inflaters that have been finally related wrongly, that's not a house made undertaking, you're working with an explosive device that could heavily injure you. flow away it to a qualified expert.

On a 7 year old car the responsibility is yours. As someone else said you wouldn't expect him to replace the alternator or the water pump as things wear out. He will just laugh at you if you ask for replacement.

Answer me this - if your indicator stalk fell off, would you expect it replaced for free? If the radiator sprung a leak? Things wear out, even if it's not obvious they are under stress.
If you have no warranty, then the manufacturer is not liable - that's why products are sold with warranties. For a new item, you would have some other legal rights, but not on a product 7 years old. TVs die quicker than that...

Very rare that a Air Bag explodes with out two triggers happening. It is your car but it won't hurt to ask the manufacture to check out the air bag system. Expensive to fix but air bags save lifes.

First check with service dept of dealer for recall or service bulletin...Most air bag systems have a longer warranty then other parts...Exhaust system has 10 year warranty mandated by federal govt...[most people don't know it] dont listen to those who say tough luck, they are wrong....ask to speak to zone manager if the dealer won't help,

I would guess that it might have developed a fault and I would ask Citizens advice bureau to find out. I do not think the manufacturer would take responsibility.

Not unless your car is still warranted. But I would still call the manufacturer to report the problem!

It's yours, but you still need to report it to the dealer or the NTSA because it's a major safety hazard. You have to replace the sensors and check out the whole system too, so it's not a do it yourself job.
