My car makes a like slapping noise in the engine, but it goes away after a few minutes. Does anyone no why this is happening? Are the valves self adjusting?

My husband is driving across Canada and is stuck in a small town because of problems with our car. He was driving and the car just quit on him. He can start the car over again but once he is driving it bogs out again. We have spent 500 dollars in towing and he is now sitting at a Canadian Tire and they don't know what the problem is. They tried the diagnostic machine and it is showing nothing. We are losing money we dont have by the minute, so any advice as to what could possibly be the problem would be greatly appreciated. We need to get him home!

I have a rubber bumper MGBGT and am thinking of converting it to chrome as they were orininally. There is no problem in doing the job or in getting the materials as they are all readily available but it is not a cheap thing to do and so I was wondering if it can be done in stages ie bumpers to chrome first and then lower the suspension at a later date? Also if I can do the bumpers first does the car look 'wrong' and will it handle safely?

This happens, they come on and then go off, when they are on it seems like the windshield wipers slow down and the headlights dim. Is this a ground issue? Where do you think the ground problem is? It doe snot seem to be at the battery.

I was driving my olds today and when I slowed down from 58 mph to 55, it jerked back pretty hard. What would cause this?

I thought my tire was flat and I was riding the rim (that's what it sound like). But that wasn't it. I continued to drive and the banging just got louder. It only does it when I drive it. If I park it or stop at a light you don't hear anything. It also kind of sounds like a loud popping noise at the same. I've never heard anything like it before. It's a 96 firebird. Any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I have a 1999 honda accord with manual transmittion (stickshift). I was told that there was no clutch oil to change. There is a plastic oil resevoir under the hood (with the mark of MIN & MAX). The owner manual said that it is the clutch oil. Do I need to replace this oil? how?
In the automatic transmission, the transmission oil should be replaced. How about the stickshift?

I would like to know if anyone has had a timing belt changed on a zetec E Ford Focus and if so, was the timing belt guide pulley also renewed ? Also how many miles/years can the pulley be safe ?

I broke the belt in my 91 saab 9000s. They put in a belt tensioner ($216) a belt shock ($154) a pulley ($59) and the belt ($84). With labor, a bill of $967 seems ridiculous. Yes, they showed me some broken pulleys, but they didn't show me the belt shock or belt tensioner. I don't even know if these were necessary, but he installed them. Plus, they NEVER called to tell me how much it was going to cost before they did the work and never answered the phone when I called them. Am I getting scammed?

My wife has a 2002 Grand Am and the BCM was just replaced about 5 months ago at a Pontiac dealership due to the car would not start. It would try to turn over, but sounded like it was flooded or not getting any gas. Now the car is doing it again. Is it the BCM or is it something else?
