You may need a new battery for your remote control but it is more likely that your central locking system is broken and needs replacing. This can be costly and if your car locks by the key use that meantime until you can afford to replace your system.

One of the doors (or boot) may not be locking properly and so the system reverts back to unlocked to stay synchronised. Try manualy operating each door in turn and when/if the system stays locked you have found the culprit (also check to see if any of the locks seem stiff). It could be a faulty motor, sensor or broken wire.

If the battery is still good enoguh to make it open, then it probably isn't the battery.

More than likely there is a sensor that gives the power locks a status signal (all doors shut, etc) that has failed.

If it is still under warranty, take it to the dealer, if not, then see if you know anyone that can look at it for you.

Like JOJO said. First step would be to check the battery. You will be amazed how different (distance and ease of push to activate)your remote works when it has a fresh battery installed. Good Luck!

You'd do best to call the dealership and ask them, it could be a malfunction in the keyless remote itself. You aren't trying to lock the doors while your keys are in the ignition? If you need a new keyless entry unit, try keylessride.com, they can send you one via mail and at a decent price.

My dad had that same issue, turns out his remote on his key ring was damaged. The battery was shorting out. That might be your problem.

Good Luck!

Have you tried changing batteries in the remote?

Check the battery in your key fob..It is probably dead. Happened to me once. They take the watch sized batteries. Snap apart the key fob and you will have it made!! Good luck!!

sounds like the car thinks one of the doors is still open . this happens on rovers if one of the door pin/courtesy light switches is broken . check operation of each door switch one by one to see if they operate the interior light .
