Help! My car got a flat and theres is a stripped lug nut that will not come off the rim. Im visting a friend and Ive called several auto shops/mechanics and noone has a portable air compressor. I was wondering if anyone had another alternative to get the lugwig off? Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like the lug bolt is already toast. You might as well chisel it off with a cold chisel and a 3 pound sledge hammer.

An air compressor won't help you - "stripped" means that the threads have broken off the inside of the nut, so that it turns easily but doesn't screw itself off the stud. The only way to remove this is to turn the nut while simultaneously pulling on it - a difficult proposition.

An air compressor is only good for nuts that have been over-tightened or have seized onto the stud. If this is the problem, and you can't get a compressor, try putting a piece of metal pipe over the end of the wrench. The added leverage should help you remove the nut.

They make special sockets to get rounded/locking lug nuts off. Most are sold by professional tool dealers like snap-on or matco. You may be looking at a tow to a near by shop to get this taken care of. The cost of the tow would probly be about the same as them coming to you with a portable compressor.

call a truck service that has road side assistance. or it might be cheaper to have car towed to tire center.
