I've seen a lot of different engines put into Fieros, including a Ferrari V6, V8s, etc. The easiest will be the V6 that some model Fieros came with from the factory. You can also use the supercharged V6 from the Grand Prix GTP, but it's not as straightforward a swap as you might suppose. Sticking to what the factory offered is always easier, as all the parts (mounts, harness, etc) are readily available.

Well, with that combo you will have a lot of fabrication no matter what V6 you put in it unless it is the same bellhousing bolt pattern and motor mounts. Now in my humble opinion, if you are going to do this, go ahead and upgrade to a Northstar V8 out of a Caddilac. Lots of power, decent gas mileage for a V8, and most of the big fab jobs are in kit form. There are sites that carry parts for this swap. http://www.design1systems.com/ is a good site with some info, as well as here: http://www.kitcarmag.com/techfaq/26104/
Good Luck!

I think the 3.1l is a direct swap for the 2.8l.
Port matching will give you another 40hp.
