Also it has an edelbrock performance intake manifold. I mean the veh runs good but the emission tests say its running to rich at 50-60 mph.

If your car still has all the emission equipment still on and functioning it would be the right carb..Emission equipment would be Catalic converter, air pump egr etc.If it doesnt a ordinary carb that well adjusted should cause a problem

Depending upon your application on the original engine for the 1979 El Camino, I DO NOT think you will find that you had a Holley. You either had a two barrel, Rochester or Carter, but probably a Quadrajet. Take the VIN number to your local Chevrolet dealer and he can tell you want carb was originally in to. Yes, there are electronic Quadrajets, but they cannot be made to work correctly without the electronics for the solenoids that controlled the fuel. The 1979 Quadrajet was purely mechanical and very efficient when working properly.

y r u taking emissions w/ that car isnt it to old

i bet u live in cali put a catalic converter on it a new one
but idk if a new carb will work

and that carb and intake youll get new wont work with that motor youll need new head because them r vortech heads and thats a older setup you can get it to work but wont pass emmissions though without new heads

If the car runs good it might be cheaper to take it somewhere else. Busy shops sometime pencil whip forms. Talk to them be their friend.
