My car died driving down the road, and would not start. The person who owned the car before said it was the fuel filter. (it happened before). We changed it but when we tried to start it, the starter went out. (It is the starter not the battery, that we know) What does this mean? Coincidence?
My car is a '98 Bonnevill.

my compressors are draining my battery and wasnt sure if i could put a capacitor and that will do the job or if i need to put another battery in there. it is an old car and i did all the work my self but dont know what to do with this?

Came to a head this morning but the chain of events started 2 days ago. I filled up the car with gas on Tuesday morning and forgot to replace the gas cap, subsequently, my check engine light came on. Forgetting about the cap, I thought I needed oil. I went to check the oil level this morning & in removing the dip stick, the neck fell off and the piece that secured it fell into the oil pan. I drove the car to the mechanic to be serviced for the check engine light and to replace the dip stick. I switched cars with my wife and took of for work in a rush as I was running late. As I exited the turnpike, in my haste I ran into the car ahead of me. Generally, I am a cautious driver but in my haste I made the mistake of assuming the behavior of another driver. To top things off, it'll take 2 weeks for the part to come in for my car and I can't drive it which means I need to rent a car. So imagine the total cost I will incur just because I forgot to replace a $7 gas cap. Merry X-mas!!

Other than a waroed head or a bad gasket does any one know what can cause water to get in the oil of the truck? I have taken it in but after having the head ground and the gasket replaced it still has water in the oil. I can't afford to keep throwing money at this but while I can ask the questions I don't know the first thing about motors.

my 1995 ford econoline van seems to have trouble starting in wet conditions in the winter when it warms up after really cold weather. it cranks but doesnt start. usually later that day or the next morning it will barely start. the battery level is below normal but thats not the problem. spark is good so i am thinking it is a fuel problem. i changed the fuel filter a month or two ago. i had to put a new fuel injector in last year or the year before. anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? it seems like it happens in wet or very humid conditions.

I just brough a new muffler. My pipe is 2" but the inlet of the muffler is 2.5". what can i do?? And also do i go ahead to take out the whole exhaust and cut the stock muffler out?? Is how muffler suppose to be install? I want to do it myself

I purchase a PT Cruiser in April of 2005. I have had the CD player replaced twice now. The warranty on the car will expire around June of next year. If the CD player breaks AGAIN and needs to be replaced a third time, does that fall under the Lemon Law? Can I get a CD player from another source and make Chrysler pay for it?

The clicking starts when I crank the truck up and last about 15-20 seconds.I hear the same clicking when I turn the truck off and it lasts about the same time.Like I said it is coming from behind the glove box above the heater core.The heater core has not shown me signs of it being bad,no leaking,and no foggy windows.

My truck leaks a little coolant a little tranny fluid a little oil and a lot of power steering fluid. I need to keep driving it. If I keep an eye on the fluid levels, should I be OK?
