Auto zone, or any other supplier, should have an adapter for this purpose, talk to them, they can help. As for removing the whole system, that usually is not necessary for a muffler install, If you do not have proper tools(sawzall, tailpipe cutter, hacksaw, ect.) you need to buy them, or take vehicle to a qualified shop to have it done. if doing it yourself,do not forget muffler clamps of proper size, and correct number, also, remember to allow for added length of adapter when cutting pipe, if necessary, it will not be much, but it helps to remember this. Mufflers usually have an arrow on them showing proper way to install, (arrow points in direction of exhuast flow, from engine toward the tail-pipe). Hope this helps.

You already have good advise, but if you still want to do yourself, you can get a reducer coupling at any auto parts store that will allow you to connect 2" to 2.5", but you will also need the appropriate size muffler clamps unless you have a welder. Some of the auto parts stores also loan muffler system tools like a pipe cutter etc. So be sure to check out what you need.

Take you car to a muffler shop and teel them you need your muffler put in, it wont be much.... not like 100 or more anyway.

your better off taking it to a muffler shop and have them install it. now just to install the muffler they are prob going to charge you 100-200 dollars depending on where you live and the shop that you use. beside you dont want to put extentions on the pipe (such as 2'' od to 2 1/2'' od) and then use the crappy exhaust clamps. have them weld the muffler directly to the exhaust system to ensure that there will be no leaks.

Was this muffler sold as a 'kit' for your car? It sounds like it wasn't. You'll probably save yourself a lot of trouble if you take it to a muffler shop and have them install it.
