When I drive the car a short distance and turn off the car it will not for about 10 mins. the lights on the dash light up but all I hear is a click under the dash or in the fuss panel I had the starter rebuilt and the battery checked sometimes after it starts the second time I can shut it off and start it again and again with no trouble. my wife drives this car and when it happens she will call me but before I can get to her it starts.

I´m just about to buy my first car, my budget is very limited and I want a classic model and a relatively exclusive car maker. So after reading and asking for every single newspaper and internet add, I´m between a volvo and a BMW.
Please give some help guys

Increasingly, the indicator lights on the dashboard of my 1985 Volvo DL will, without apparent cause, flash on and off very quickly. The car continues to run without any change and the on/off cycle is very quick, 1-2 sec. Could this be a grounding problem with my fuse panel?

Advice on how to troubleshoot and/or repair.
Vehicle was parked for over three months while I was out of the country, when I returned in July, the clutch would not disengage when depressed, so I could not put it into gear.

I have 105,000 miles on my Volvo. Other than getting an oil change at every 3,000 miles, what are other neccessary services I need. I know I need one every 30,000, but do I need one every 5,000? My mechanic says I do. Is he telling me truth? What's the difference between a service and tune up?

I own a 1990 Volvo 240DL. When shopping for parts, I often find qualifiers such as the part is for VIN "8". How can I tell from the VIN number what VIN type or number or whatever it is that my car is?

I bought a 1991 Volvo 740 Non-Turbo Sedan. And recently I have been noticing that the acceleration in horrible. It's a four cylinder by the way, but still. When I am at a light, and I push the gas ALL the way to the floor...is takes about 4 or 5 seconds to acutally accelerate. And when I was trying to check the carb, I saw that oil somehow had gotten in to there a long time ago, but I don't know. So what can I do about the acceleration and the cleaning of oil off of my carb?

Thanks!

I recently purchased a 2003 Volvo S40 and the odometer is about to change to 74,000 miles. I am a girl and don't know much about cars and am starting to worry it will start having expensive problems...two questions:

1. Does my car have too many miles?
2. Are Volvo's reliable or do they tend to have lots of problems?

Anyone who knows about volvos please help!

My volvo started jerking lightly when I was accelerating, braking and driving at highway speeds. I took it to a volvo dealed and they found misfire in three cilinders and the coils in them cracked. Is this the beginging of many problems? Does this happen to other volvo's? I am 19 and have been saving up ever since I was born and now this!!! Should I consider selling? Please give advise. Thank you

We just bought a 2000 Volvo S40. It has about 47K miles and appears to be in good shape. We hadn't actually been looking at Volvos, but the price was low given the make and mileage. Looking it over, I could see no significant problems with the car.

I have experience with other Volvo models and, while their were problems, those experiences have been pretty good. Can we expect the same from this car?

What experiences have you had with S40's.

Is there any known problem with S40's we should watch for?
