Hiya,

I have a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT Estate with no handbook.

A warning light has come up on the dash and I dont what it means.

It is a green triangle inside an orange box,

Inside the green triangle there is a black symbol that looks like an upsidedown "y"

This warning light is right next to the service warning light.

Can anyone tell me what this warning light means

Thanks.... Jabelite

I have a 1993 British Spec Volvo 850 SE and last night while I was driving it the car apeard to be running a bit sluggish and I began to see white smoke coming from under the hood on the Drivers side and all my Warning lights lit up my Dash board. I added more coolant and when I got home I check the coolant resevior again and it was bone dry. Filled it overnight and it was dry again this morning when I went to check on it. I have looked at all the lines coming from/going to the radiator and nothing seems to be cracked. I cannot find the leak either. I know it's on the driverside due to the amounts of water found underneath the car last night. Also if you start the car with the coolant resovior cap off of the vehicle and rev the engine, water spews out everywhere.
I don't want to believe this is a head gasket issue, due to the fact that the vehicle has only 78000 miles on it. PLEASE HELP! I'm running out of ideas.

I checked my OBD, socket #6 was1's, but socket #2 had a 3-2-2 and a 1-2-1 which I think both relate to an Air Mass Meter issue ($$), but will I have to take to a mechanic?

The exhaust smelled of gas and the spark plugs were covered with it when I checked off of a quick 10 second idle, but i don't understand how i could drive 200 highway miles between stall outs (in the matter of a night)? I've had trouble before with my timing belt slipping and i don't know if the problem could be that at high rpm's the timing matches up well enough to keep me going, but in the driveway only 2 out of 4 are firing?

Anyway, i would really appreciate any help anyone can give to me, and if you need any more information from me, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.

The state of NH came out with a new law this year requiring the ABS and TRAC dashboard lights to be off.

I had the inspection done at an independent mechanic. The car passes inpection except for the ABS and TRAC lights.

I went to Volvo and they didn't even know about the new law yet. However, they looked it up and found it in the new book. They quoted $720 for a new computer module and labor.

My question is, how can I get around this? Even they said it was a silly law and that the brakes work irregardless.

I wouldn't sacrifice safety, but I've been driving under this condition for years.

Any ideas? Thanks.

My car is about a year and a half old and recently I noticed the roof rattling quite a bit. Took it to dealer to have it check and they lubed all the seals as per the manufacturer. It still makes some noise but the dealer says that the only other thing they could do is to replace the seals but the car will never be the same.

This is my last resort. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do?

I need to replace the automatic lock actuator on the door, and I don't have the shop manual. The poor old car is already pretty beat up -- I don't want to destroy the door panel trying to figure out how to get it off. Can someone out there tell me how to do it? Or if I'm supposed to tunnel in some other way, please tell me that; I'm just assuming you take the door panel off. Any hints or tips would be appreciated. It's a nice old machine... As long as I'm pestering, does anyone know where I can get the turn signal lens for the driver side front headlight? Parts are and are not available in the oddest patterns for this vehicle.

Is this a good car? How is it a good car if it uses McPherson struts for the front suspension? That's a rather cheap set up from the get go. Does it have a steel safety cage welded onto the frame? BTW how does it's AWD compare to Subarus AWD system?

This car has a simple disign. Full body on frame. 1 air bag. 4 door sedan. Live rear axle. Vertical inline 4 cylinder. 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual. Points, distributor cap, coil, and rotor.

Now does the car have a carburetor? Does it have emmissions controls? It's a 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder that has the cooling fan attached to the crank shaft harmonic balancer via a cooling fan thermo/mechanical clutch.

It's actually not that heavy a car. BUT it's got plenty of torque for a 4 banger. And the car is box shaped and extreamly safe.

PLEASE tell me now, why is it the car only gets 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway? 19mpg overall. That is pittifull!

Is there any way to boost gas mileage? Can you install a modified crank shaft to increase compression? How about a Turbo-Charger? How about CDI Ignition? How about replacing/swapping an automatic transmission for a manual, could that be done? Larger intake? Larger exhaust? HOW???
