Is this a good car? How is it a good car if it uses McPherson struts for the front suspension? That's a rather cheap set up from the get go. Does it have a steel safety cage welded onto the frame? BTW how does it's AWD compare to Subarus AWD system?

There is nothing wrong with McPherson struts, especially in a cross-over. XC drives like a SUV so do not expect any performance out of it. If you are looking for that consider the V70R which is also AWD but has 60 more HP. Subie has a better AWD system but their quality is 1/10 of Volvos. It sounds like you are looking for a performance oriented vehicle which the XC70 never was intended to be.

Horrid horrid car - we are getting shot of ours tomorrow! Its a really 'wallowy' ride - can't explain it any better. Swopping it for another T5 which is what we had before - much prefer it even though we are losing some of the features.
