the white engines if maintained,[ like the red engines] have no expiration dates .
i have customers that now have 300k+ miles with no smoke and no bad noises
yes timing belt jobs and 3000 mile oil services are expensive and the transmissions require more frequent fluid service and flushes with an expensive volvo only fluid but these cars are lasting every bit as well as the old 2,7,9. series [w/red engines] occasional computer glitches not withstanding [still a better track record then mercedes and bmw]

2002 Volvo S60 Engine

Old Volvo engine would have no problem going over 300K miles or more as long as you do not over heat the engine.

S60 engine is unproven and no one really know how long it will last. By the time that you pick up any meaningful data out of the engine, the Ford will change the engine to a different one. It is not like good old days that you can run an engine for 20+ years. Because Ford makes crap engines, they can only only use the engine for 5 - 10 years before designing a new one.

In my experience, any engine well taken care of would last over 150K.

My 1998 Volvo S70 is still going strong at 150,000 miles and the Volvo S60 is just a newer version of the car so it should go for a long time.

Well I've got an '85 740 GLE with 230,000 miles on it and it uses no oil and purrs like a kitten.

However I've heard some bad things about the newer (1993 and up) Volvos so I'm not sure.

it all depends on how you look after the car. I've got an '87 740 estate that's done 216,900 miles with 95% of it's original parts and it can still outrun all the boy-racer cars and purrs like a kitten.

With proper care, maintenance, and upkeep the car could last for at least 100,000 miles.
