It's unnerving and dangerous. I had an induction cleaning done and it still stalls. Someone said it could be my ignition. Has anyone had this problem with a Volvo? What solved it?

I have a 1992 Volvo 940 with 260K miles. I am seeing evidence of oil in the coolant - it looks like light brown gooey slime floating on top of the coolant in the reservoir - but I am not seeing any evidence of coolant in the oil. Other that that, the car runs normally, no problems. Any ideas ? Is the head gasket on its way out ?

have a 1992 Volvo 940GL with 225K miles that has started randomly stalling out while driving at highway speeds. So far there is no correlation to gas level in the tank or weather, it does it on sunny days as well as rainy, and with full tank. Fuel pump, plugs, wires, distributor are all new and have had no effect. It immediately starts again when the key is turned off and then restarted. Sometimes it does this several times per day, sometimes it won't do this for several days or even weeks. This is very frustrating and every time I bring it to a garage it is running fine and they can find nothing wrong. Anyone have any ideas ??

This car has been great, reliable, dependable, etc. It's a '92 240 sedan and it has 160,000 miles on it. Over the last four years my son has been driving it and lately he has been working on me to get rid of it and get him a different car. Granted, it has had some isues, but nothing major as far as the big items. I currently am facing having to pay about $1000 to repair a rear oil leak, plus a problem with the way that air and gasoline are mixing . Apparently, this mixing problem is causing the gas mileage to be very poor. Are there any mechanics out there with Volvo experience that can give me some advice. I would prefer not to get a different car, however I will if this car becomes too much of a burden.

I have a 95' 850 Volvo.
Recently, we had a really cold day and finally got the car started. (No block heater) Since that day, the car has been shaking on idle, even when the brakes are on. It seems worse when I put on the rear defroster as well as operate the power windows. The engine is running fine however, no noises or anything. It seems much worse when the car is cold, but continues to shake when the engine is at a normal temp. (Only on idle)
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!

I noticed along with the ugly slash bar across the front grill, Volvo also has a symbol with an up arrow attached to the right upper corner of the circle.

I may be mistaken; this symbol may have nothing to do with sex at all, but would like to hear some insights from you.

Thanks.

Every time I unlock my doors I hear a rattle/thumping in the passenger door, the window will go down, and the exterior turn signal light on the mirror will flicker. To make it stop, you have to manually lift the door lock knob. After which, everything will function normally. In addition, I've had the express window option fail, the mirror has quit working, and the exterior temp. gauge has malfunctioned. I assumed it was a computer software issue, but the dealership told me that was not the case and that I needed to replace several parts. I think they're trying to rip me off. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, was it a software issue?

Volvo 850/1993. The lamp placed on the right side of the control screen, which indicates electronic problems, switched on yesterday. I am in the place without any reliable car servis.
The first proper mechanic is 500 km away. I am wondering can I continue driving with this lamp on or not? What kind of specific problems I may expect? thanks in advance for your kind answer

Mechanic says the resinator between the catalytic converter and the muffler is gone so he needs to replace it and the muffler. He also says it needs new breaks and two tires. What do you think?

Problem just started yesterday. I drove it the 2 miles home but decided to walk to my train instead this morning.

Would you only trust a dealership to look at a problem like this?
