my mechanic says i nee to replace the radiator . i hardly see the chairline crack. Is he taking me for ride?

i'd say your mechanic is right, but if you are doubtful get a second opinion from another mechanic. it doesn't matter if the crack is normally visible, under driving conditions it will leak and cause problems.

Hairline cracking on a radiator may suddenly become a water burst. That's the problem with all plastics. There are really no signs of deterioration.

Better fix it before you wait for the tow truck on the road side...

Volvo's (and others) plastic radiators go from bad to worse in a hurry. Check around with the various suppliers for the best price.

it is going to need to be replaced eventually but if you know how to mix up some jb weld that will work for along time...you really have to keep your eyes on it cause you really don't want to be stuck on the side of the road.....if you use jb weld make sure you dont drive it for 24 hrs and put a few layers of it on. each layer a little bigger than the last.

Replace the radiator ASAP -- or you will be replacing an engine.

when I have a small leak, I pour a can of black pepper into it. Seals the hole right up.
