Turn key to the first position and press the reset button for odometer...hold the reset button and turn the key in the on position (but don't start the car), after about 10 seconds the light should flash and within 5 seconds or so let go of the reset button.

If that doesn't work then try turning the key to first position, press and hold reset button on odometer and quickly turn to on position. The numbers should reset.

First of all, those who said it does not matter know absolutely nothing about Volvos or even cars in general. If the owner's manual says premium and if there is a sticker on the fuel tank cover that says premium, they mean you need to use premium. The car most likely has a turbo and with that it requires premium gas to give you the best performance. If you do not use premium, you will see a noticeable degradation in the performance of the car - in fact it will be a huge difference. If the car is a turbo model, use premium for the sake of your car. If it is not a turbo, then it should not make any difference at all.
