I noticed along with the ugly slash bar across the front grill, Volvo also has a symbol with an up arrow attached to the right upper corner of the circle.
I may be mistaken; this symbol may have nothing to do with sex at all, but would like to hear some insights from you.
Thanks.

Thanks to you all.
I also glad we agree this male symbol on a car is not a popular thing along with the silly ugly slash.
Beside making their car unattractive with symbols, they consistently make their car look like a box with sharp strong box corners.
I have such hard time to glance one, not to think about even getting one.

Firstly let me explain that VOLVO did not start as a car company.
Volvo is a Latin word and the translation of it is "I roll"
Volvo started out as a ball bearing company.
The symbol on the grill is a symbol for Iron Ore, symbol of strength.
Volvo cars are and have proven to be some of the safest if not the safest cars on the road.
In 1976 U.S. Government purchased 24 Volvos to base the safety standards on the results they obtained form crashing these cars.
Your 3 point seat belt you wear in your car was designed by Volvo. Your Oxygen sensors.
There are so many innovations, and technological advancements this company has came up with it's hard to come up with a list.
As for your complaint about the cars being boxy and so terrible looking and so slow and un attractive it is your opinion.
As far as I know my 1990 Volvo looked just as good as any car did in 1990. The only catch to this my 1990 Volvo is still running and your 1990 is broken or sold.
My 1998 Volvo is a 4 door sedan and it runs a 1/4 mile in 13.97 seconds.
It's all a preference if you don't want to buy a good, reliable, safe and under stated performance car you have the right to go with any other car out there.
If you still think VOLVO cars are boxy and dull I urge you to look at the new Hard Top Convertible Volvo has out.
Look at out new S80 or the s40.

The symbol dates back, and really it just happens to be the symbol for male because the original builder equated it with stength, just like a Volvo is.
I'm not aware that homosexuals had a symbol though, what is male is male, and what is female is female. Maybe a Rainbow flag to signify their pride, but thats about it.
And as anything else, styling is subjective, so what one maybe like, others dont. Just depends on the persons taste.

The circle with an arrow as described is a symbol for the male Species. I am sure some Male Ego european decided this would be cool.....Kinda dumb, along with the slash....

Volvo selected this symbol for iron as their logo because, after all, Volvos are made ultimately of iron. They used to be as durable as iron but sadly no more.

If you're referring to what I think you are, that's just the symbol for Mars, for Iron, and for Male. Nothing intrinsically homosexual about it.

It doesn't.It's the symbol for the ancient greek god "Mars"or "Eros" (not a mythology buff), the god of war.Why they'd put that on a family car, i'll never know..
